About Greenjoy: Electric boating for Everyone

We’re proud to tell you a little more about Greenjoy. We’re one of the pioneers of the sharing economy. We’re a nationwide network offering automated rentals of sustainable, silent electric boats. Our renters can use our (mobile) website to rent an electric boat right up until the last minute at the most competitive (variable) rates (just like airline tickets and hotel rooms!) and then activate the rented boat themselves using their own cell phone. Simple and affordable; sustainable enjoyment for everyone.

This makes it so easy for anyone to have access to a boat, rather than having to own one themselves to get out on the water. It’s a sustainable concept where, with the help of smart technology and our customer-friendly approach, we do everything we can to ensure as many people as possible have a great time on the water.

In terms of fleet financing, the Greenjoy concept is also a typical shared-use model: we finance a large portion of the fleet ourselves, but to scale up more quickly, several Electric boats have also been financed by third parties. In fact, we were one of the first companies to successfully complete a crowdfunding campaign to finance a boat.

Collaboration with tenants, the neighborhood, and our financial partners is a hallmark of Greenjoy and ensures that its success is widely shared.

Sustainable sharing model and circular fleet

Greenjoy’s goal is to make electric boating as accessible as possible for everyone. This allows people to enjoy a unique (and very relaxing) boating experience easily and affordably at one of the many Greenjoy locations. Through a dynamic pricing policy, Greenjoy makes rowing boat rentals accessible to a very broad audience. Not only does this ensure that the electric boats are used efficiently, but sharing the boats also eliminates the need for private individuals to keep their own boats moored in the canal. The many neglected boats—usually equipped with polluting internal combustion engines—that sit idle along the quays will eventually become obsolete, making the city a little more beautiful and sustainable.

Greenjoy develops its own electric boats. Every aspect of the design is approached with recycling in mind. The aluminum electric boats have a very long lifespan—and are therefore inherently very sustainable—and, thanks to their modular construction, can be easily disassembled so that the individual parts can be reused. The electric boats are, of course, powered by green electricity and are maintained in an environmentally friendly manner.
