Terkaple is located near the Sneekermeer (Frisian: Snitser Mar), is centrally situated in Friesland, and is connected to Sneek, one of the Eleven Cities. The Sneekermeer borders the village of Oppenhuizen, which is part of Sneek, and the quaint village of Terherne.
The Sneekermeer is perhaps best known for the Sneekweek, an annual sailing competition that has been held more than 85 times. In addition to the large lake, the Sneekermeer also consists of a number of ponds, such as the Goaiingarypster Puollen (Goëngarijpster Ponds) and the Terkaplester Puollen (Terkaplester Ponds).

From Terkaple, you can easily combine boating on the lakes with a visit to the Kameleondorp, Terherne, or to Akkrum, Joure, Grou, and Jirnsum. Visiting all the villages in a single day might be a bit much, so we’ve put together several routes that take you through multiple villages.
You can also visit the water sports town of Sneek from Terkaple, traveling there via the canals and returning via the Sneekermeer. Most routes do take a full day, though.

Boats & Waterways
At Greenjoy, you’ll cruise in comfortable electric boats. This lets you glide silently through nature and, perhaps more importantly, have a normal conversation on board—without noise or unpleasant odors. The boats are very spacious and can accommodate up to 10 people. You don’t need a boating license to operate our boats. They’re very easy to operate, and our boating instructions make it possible to set out safely even without any prior experience.
