10 Winter Tips
So have a great time at one of our locations in the lovely cities of Utrecht and Leeuwarden! We’ll be happy to give you 10 Great Winter Tips to Make Your Boat Trip Unforgettable:
- Wear a wind- and rain-resistant jacket when you’re on the boat. As long as you stay warm, you’ll have a wonderful time on the peaceful canals.
- When packing, be sure to bring some (fleece) blankets. Not only do they provide comfort when used as a cushion, but they also absorb your body heat, which keeps you even warmer.
- An all-time classic: bring a thermos filled with hot chocolate (or mulled wine; for adults only) for the perfect winter experience on board. This will create cozy moments that will make people jealous.
- Pay extra attention to the canal houses around you during your winter boat trip. Since the trees are bare, you’ll have a clear view of the canal houses and will notice unique features you wouldn’t see during the high season.
- When you’re enjoying your boat trip, it’s a welcome break to make a quick stop at one of the (heated) terraces along the canals. Order a warm serving of traditional Dutch “bitterballen” (fried meatballs). It’s the perfect way to warm up and recharge quickly for the second half of the trip.
- Not in the mood for “bitterballen”? Ask for a typical Dutch “stroopwafel” shop—it shouldn’t be too hard to find in the city center.
- Oh, and even better! Only during the holidays will you definitely find a food truck around selling another typical Dutch treat called “oliebollen.” These will fill you up and keep you warm for a while!
- It’s not as busy as it is during peak season, so enjoy all the space and the relaxing atmosphere around you. You’ll have the whole canal to yourself!
- On rainy days, bring a towel to dry off the seats when they’re covered with raindrops. You’ll also find a wiper in one of the seats on board, but it won’t get them completely dry. The towel will keep your pants dry so they don’t make you feel cold.
- And last but not least: since price does play a role in your experience of the boat trip… Take advantage of our special winter rates! You’ll automatically get the best price when you book. The price will be much lower than during the busy summer months.
We hope these winter tips inspire you to take an electric boat trip during the most wonderful time of the year. Enjoy!
